Community Charter School of Cambridge (CCSC) is a public charter school that serves students in grades 6-12. Focusing on post-secondary success for all students, CCSC combines high academic and behavioral standards with an environment t of unconditional affection, acceptance, and belonging in which all students can thrive. CCSC seeks dedicated, outstanding, and innovative faculty and staff interested in joining our exceptionally diverse and talented team (47% faculty of color, 57% administrators of color for the 2017-2018 school year). This specific position entails supporting special education students in an inclusive setting; and preparing students for success in college and the requisite standardized exams – MCAS, SAT, & AP Exams. The precise assignment for this position has yet to be determined and will depend on the qualifications and background of the person to be hired as well as the staffing needs of the school. In addition, the faculty member will serve as an advisor and fulfill all regular duties and commitments required of CCSC staff .

A CCSC Special Education Teacher can expect to:
• Facilitate IEP & 504 meetings
• Write IEPs and 504 plans
• Meet with Grade Level teams to ensure implementation of accommodations in classrooms
• Regularly gather and analyze data that informs progress on IEP goals
• Collaborate with content area teachers to design appropriate academic and behavioral accommodations and modifications that are informed by IEP goals
• Work with school psychologist to interpret evaluations
• Collaborate with ancillary providers such as speech language and occupational therapists
• Teach within a special education inclusion environment that may involve co-teaching classes with regular education teachers and teaching students with a wide range of academic skills and abilities
• Work with a diverse student body from Cambridge, Boston, and surrounding cities
• Sustain a school-wide culture of respect for school rules and actively use the school’s demerit, merit and detention system
• Serve as an Advisor to a small group of students
• Communicate with students’ families on a regular basis
• Participate in Professional Development as scheduled for all faculty
