Job Description

Baltimore City Schools is currently recruiting dynamic special education teachers for our citywide programs, working with Autism, Life Skills, and Emotionally Disabled (ED) student populations for the 2018-2019 school year. Essential Functions include:
-Provide instruction and assess individual students with disabilities for the purpose of preparing and implementing individual educational programs
-Assume direct responsibility for the development of appropriate behavior of students within the school setting by establishing and maintaining effective discipline and manage procedures
-Coordinate instructional activities and collaborates with other professional staff to maximize learning opportunities
-Maintain appropriate records and document the prescriptive progress of special education students in both special and regular education programs based on established instructional objectives
-Work with parents or legal guardians of special education children to ensure ongoing communication of instructional support system
-Monitor student behavior in non-instructional areas and intervenes to control and modify disruptive behavior

  • Job Requirements

    • -Bachelor's degree in special education
      -Valid professional teaching certificate in special education for specific grade span
      -Knowledge of federal laws protecting the educational services for students with disabilities
      -Knowledge of content, curriculum, methods, materials, and equipment of instructional specialty
    • At least 2 year s of relevant experience preferred
    • Bachelor degree preferred
    • Citizenship, residency OR WORK VISA IN United States required
