Terms of Employment - 220 Day Probationary Contract for the 2018-19 school year


Essential Job Functions

  • Establish and communicate a district-wide philosophy of least restrictive environment for serving students with unique needs.
  • Develop and implement district-wide mental health screening.  Develop a cadre of services to address student needs.
  • Ensure that all students access district and state core curriculum.
  • Establish and communicate that students are treated with dignity and respect.
  • Work with staff to learn and provide exceptional and effective interventions and education for all students with individual education plans or 504s.
  • Collaborate with building principals and teaching staff to implement and maintain programs.
  • Develop and manage budgets, proposals, new programs and grants to meet District goals.
  • Communicate information on programs, regulations, and services to school staff, parents, school board, school districts and agencies.
  • Recruit, interview, hire and assign staff.
  • Supervise preparation, implementation, and monitoring of all individual education plans and 504s.
  • Monitor the development, implementation and evaluation of all special education programs and staff.
  • Maintain and share current knowledge of applicable laws and regulations and their impact on students and the district.
  • Frequently monitor and evaluate program data and ensure all required and necessary reports are completed in a timely manner.
  • Ensure accurate cumulative individual records for all students receiving special services, students enrolled in special classes, and students with 504s.
  • Supervise transition services program and coordinate home instruction for home bound or hospitalized students.
  • Arrange for transportation for students in special services programs.
  • Plan and implement professional development for staff.  Involve staff in continuous improvement through self-assessment and goal setting.  Serve as a consultant for principals and staff.
  • Maintains satisfactory attendance, as defined by district policy and regulations (GCBD/GDBD).
  • Other duties as assigned.



  • Masters’ degree or higher in Special Education Administration or a related field.
  • Prior teaching experience, and three or more years of administrative experience in Special Education programs.
  • Knowledge of dual-identified student strategies (SPED/ELL)
  • Skills to effectively manage and direct staff and programs, communicate and problem solve.
  • Knowledge of Special Education practice and programming, state and federal laws, and district policies.
  • Oregon Administrative license, criminal background check.
