Job Description

Cedars International Academy
Superintendent Search Announcement Superintendent 2018
Austin, Texas

School History
Cedars International Academy (CIA) began with Dr. Rev. Father Don Joseph Sawyer. He was drawn to the charter school concept as they were smaller and allowed parental input in the education of their children.

Cedars International Academy, a 501 (C)3 charter school was granted a charter in 2000. In 2001 the school opened with 53 students at Our Lady’s Maronite Catholic Church, located at 1320 East 51st Street, Austin, Texas.
As Cedar’s enrollment grew the need for a new site became apparent. In 2006 the site located at 8416 N IH 35, Austin, Texas was purchased.

As the years progressed several amendments to the original charter expanded the number of students and grade levels. After several years of researching the right location and best instructional high school model the board opened up the Cedars International Next Generation High School in the fall of 2016 located at 6700 Middle Fiskville Road #102 Austin, Texas 78752. Cedars International Next Generation High School is a 100% project based school committed to deep learning.

The spring of 2017 led to the untimely death of Reverend Joseph Crowley, a beloved school board member. The site at 8416 N IH 35 was renamed after Reverend Crowley
The school’s 500 plus students are currently organized into two divisions: Crowley campus housing PK-7th grade (387 students) and Cedars International Next Generation High School housing 8 – 12th grade (116 students). We currently have a waiting list of students wishing to enter Cedars.
