Job Description

Lunenburg Public Schools seeks licensed Speech and Language Pathologist (.5 FTE) to be part of a dynamic educational team servicing students with special needs.

The focus of this individual will be to develop in each student the skills, attitudes, and knowledge to meet/exceed the goals/objectives outlined in each of their Individualized Education Plans (IEPs), as well as assess students and write reports as needed.

In order to achieve academic excellence, the successful candidate will possess the ability to work collaboratively with staff members, particularly the pre-referral team, and parents.

QUALIFICATIONS

The Speech & Language Pathologist shall:
1. Hold the appropriate Educator License issued by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education and ASHA (CCC preferred).
2. Have experience with providing services to students who are in inclusionary and substantially separate programs.
3. Demonstrate a comprehensive knowledge and understanding of child growth and development as well as effective instructional strategies, classroom management, learning assessment/diagnosis, and research related to learning and children with speech and language needs.
4. Possess a high standard of integrity and moral character.
5. Possess initiative and be willing to undertake the responsibilities of the position with enthusiasm.
6. Possess strong interpersonal skills that will enable the teacher/specialist to relate well with students, staff, administration, parents, and the community.
7. Exhibit an understanding of current rules and regulations regarding special education assessment and report writing.

Salary per Lunenburg Education Association Agreement.

Attendance at a New Teacher Orientation/Induction is required.

This position will not be filled prior to January 19, 2018, if the position is still vacant following this date, the posting will remain open until a qualified applicant is found.

Hiring is subject to satisfactory CORI and SAFIS Background Checks per 603 CMR 51.
