Job Description

Central Elementary School, a K-4 public school serving the children of Rockingham, is seeking a skilled and energetic elementary teacher to serve as a long-term substitute for a 3rd grade teacher. The ideal candidate will excel in maintaining a classroom of respect and learning. Knowledge of the Common Core State Standards required. This position is supported by a veteran 3rd grade partner teacher and will begin in March.


General responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

- Plan, deliver, and assess a program of study Common Core-based and follows the district curricula.
- Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity of the students.
- Guide the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and establish, in harmony with the goals, clear objectives for all lessons, units, projects, and the like to communicate these objectives to students.
- Employ instructional methods and materials that are most appropriate for meeting stated objectives.
- Monitor student learning with an eye towards intervention opportunities.
- Counsel with colleagues, students, and parents regularly.
