Job Description

Physical Education Teacher

Permanent Substitute ( January - June, 2018)

.4 FTE

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Massachusetts certification for elementary/middle/high school level Physical Education.

 

2. Earned bachelor's and/or master's degree in physical education.

3. Evidence of undergraduate/ graduate courses in motor development and motor training, physiology of exercise, kinesiology and anatomy.

4. Demonstrated understanding of human growth and development.

5. Evidence of courses in motor skills development.
 
6. Evidence of courses in first aid and C.P.R.

7. Evidence of courses in prevention and care of athletic injuries.

8. Evidence of courses in a variety of skill activities.

9. Demonstrated knowledge of a variety of instructional strategies and techniques.

10. Evidence of experience teaching elementary/middle/high school age students.

11. Demonstrated understanding of appropriate class management skills.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Prepare unit plans and lesson plans to implement the approved curriculum for elementary/middle/high school Physical Education.

2. Work cooperatively with other Physical Education teachers to implement the program.

3. Work cooperatively with other staff members at the school.

4. Communicate as needed with school guidance counselors, parents and administrators.

5. Assess and report student performance to parents.

6. Recommend improvements for the program.

7. Recommend scheduling and facility needs.

8. Assist in preparing budgets and inventory.
