Job Description

RSU #57 is currently searching for people interested in becoming a substitute teacher. We have a need for qualified, dedicated, motivated substitutes in many areas within the district. Substitute teachers are "day-to-day" employees who have the flexibility to decide when and where they wish to accept assignments. There is no expectation of employment during school holidays, breaks or during the summer months. Many teachers begin their careers as substitute teachers, providing them an opportunity to get to know school staff and school culture prior to accepting full-time teaching positions. Substitutes are needed as classroom teachers, ed techs and 1 to 1 aides.

Once your application is reviewed, selected candidates will be contacted via email and invited to an Interview & Orientation session (typically held once/month). Those candidates not selected will be notified by email.

If you already hold valid State of Maine Department of Education fingerprints, please bring your card to the interview. If you do not hold valid Maine DOE fingerprints, it is highly recommended that you begin that process as soon as possible as it is a requirement before you can work in a classroom.

RSU #57 holds Substitute Teacher Interviews & Orientation approximately once/month. If your application is selected for further consideration, you will be invited via email to the next session. Thank you!
