POSITION TITLE: Paraprofessional - Special Education Resource




• 48 Semester/72Quarter credits required or successful completion of the Para Professional Assessment Test.

• Evidence of good mental and physical health.

• Dependable with good work attendance.

• Ability to work with and met individual needs of children as directed by professional staff.

• Ability to perform as a team member.

• Ability to maintain confidentiality.

• Ability to follow oral and written directions.

• Ability to demonstrate appropriate communication skills.

• Must be able to lift 50 pounds.



Reports to: Building Principal

Work Schedule: 183 days per year

Salary Schedule: $11.86 per hour (Based on Step 1 of the 2017/2018 Salary Schedule)

Hours to Work: 7.0 hours per day, Monday - Friday




• Working with individual children under the teacher's direction to meet the child's needs; i.e., a child who needs to review specific skills.

• Work with children individually or in small groups under teacher direction.

• Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds, and be able to adapt to the physical demands of this position.

• Be assigned to miscellaneous duties around the classrooms; i.e., bulletin boards, preparing art materials, readying equipment, house cleaning, duplicating materials, etc.

• Assist children in specific activities.

• Assist the teacher in routine reporting and accounting of student information.

• Help in unusual situations, i.e., field trips, fire drills, tornado drills, etc.

• Observe and record behavior, as well as assist in the utilization of behavior modification techniques designed by the teacher.

• Other duties as assigned by the teacher and/or supervisor.
