School Year 2018-2019: Upper School Science Teacher at TAPA: Trinity Academy for the Performing Arts | Providence, RI

TAPA: Trinity Academy for the Performing Arts, an academically-rigorous public charter school for the arts, seeks an Upper School Science Teacher. The ideal candidate recognizes and celebrates the interconnections between the sciences and the arts.

The Upper School Science teaches five classes, (each with approximately 18 students). They will also lead an Advisory through the students’ four years in the TAPA Upper School. This position is an incredible opportunity to join TAPA's tight-knit teaching corps.

At TAPA, science is taught utilizing an arts-integrated, NGSS-based curriculum, where the arts are deeply embedded into the core of interdisciplinary learning. TAPA prepares students to successfully meet or exceed Rhode Island’s graduation requirements, and perform at (or above) grade level on all state and local assessments. TAPA meets each student’s individual academic needs using assessment data and continuous feedback, while providing clear academic, social and artistic expectations.

    Job Requirements

    • Rhode Island Teaching Certification
    • Proven interest and/or involvement in the Arts 
    • Ability to integrate curriculum within and between the subject areas 
    • Ability to gather and utilize both formative and summative assessments to create individualized learning plans. 
    • Desire to be an integral member of a Professional Learning Community 
    • Commitment to Urban Education 
    • Knowledge of utilizing a student-centered approach to teaching and learning 
    • Proven ability to form working partnerships with parents and community members 
    • Knowledge of modifying curriculum for English Language Learners 
    • Knowledge of the local and/or national Arts community.

    • Experience working in an urban environment 
    • Understanding of the Developmental Designs approach to classroom teaching and learning 
    • Knowledge of using Chromebooks in an 1:1 educational setting
    • Participation in the Rhode Island Arts community.
