Job Description

Weiser School District is accepting applications for the following position: VARSITY FOOTBALL COACH

Teaching positions will be dependent on the successful candidate’s certification and district need.

Duties and Responsibilities:
• Strong background in the fundamentals, techniques, and strategies of football
• Possess beliefs congruent with the mission and vision of the Weiser School District and Weiser High School
• Model positive behavior, maintain a supportive environment, and remain professional in victory and defeat
• Ability to communicate and use good judgment in dealing with assistant coaches, student-athletes and their parents, and high school administration and staff
• Actively promote the athletic program and seek student participation
• Organize practice schedules and game rosters
• Instruct student-athletes in the fundamental skills, strategies, and physical training necessary for them to realize a degree of individual and/or team success
• Ability to teach individual participants of varying abilities the skills necessary for achievement
• Provide direction that will assist student-athletes in developing values, pride in accomplishment, acceptable social behavior, self-discipline, self-confidence, and pride in team
• Commitment to the development of sportsmanship in student-athletes and coaches
• Organize and lead fundraising opportunities
• Understand and abide by the rules and regulations of the Idaho High School Activities Association
• Assume responsibility for professional development through attendance at professional meetings, and by reading professional publications

Qualifications:
• High school graduate or GED required; bachelor’s degree strongly preferred
• Ability to pass NFHS Fundamentals of Coaching course if not a certified teacher
• First Aid/CPR class required
• Ability to pass St. Luke’s Concussion course
• Ability to pass NFHS Sudden Cardiac Arrest course
• Must pass a criminal history background check
