OVERVIEW OF ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
We make it a high priority to effectively support English Learner (EL) students at Match. At Match Community Day, our elementary school, over 80% of our students are EL’s. Over 30% of our entire PreK-12 student population is EL. For 2018-19, we’re looking for qualified applicants for elementary school (Hyde Park), our middle school (Jamaica Plain), and our high school (Brighton).

ESL Teachers provide instruction to students who require an English language course of study. The ESL Teacher reports to either the EL Director or the Special Education Director at the school and is responsible for:
• Providing inclusion support and ESL instruction in regular education classes containing EL students, and when necessary, teaching separate ESL classes.
• Helping to manage the school’s EL programing including, but not limited to: completion of necessary paperwork and filing, teacher professional development, management of parent and student communication, administration of student testing/screening, and upholding of applicable Department of Elementary and Secondary Education compliance requirements.

QUALIFICATIONS

Competitive applicants will:
• have at least two years of full-time experience as classroom or special education teacher, preferably in an urban education setting;
• hold a valid and appropriate ESL license issued by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education, or obtain the licensure by date of hire;
• believe that all students can and will succeed;
• desire to continually improve their practice as a teacher by taking and implementing feedback; have a proven record of student success and achievement;
• appreciate a good sense of humor.
