Job Description

SUMMARY: Work under the supervision of the Early Childhood Special Education teacher to develop weekly lesson plans and prepare materials for a preschool classroom of special needs and typically developing students and then implement these plans in the classroom. Provides individual personal care for students as needed. Conduct periodic assessment and record individual development of each student?s skills.

EDUCATION AND RELATED WORK EXPERIENCE:
? High school diploma or equivalent.
? Experience with children with special education needs, including Autism, preferred.
? Experience in an early childhood setting preferred.
? Must be 18 years old or older.
? Post secondary coursework in early childhood education preferred.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS or CERTIFICATIONS:
? Criminal background check required for hire.
? CPR and First Aid certifications within 3 months of entering position.
? Universal Precautions training required within 1month of entering position.
? Medication training acquired within 3 months after entering position.
? Certification as a Child Development Associate (CDA) preferred.
? Successful completion of a pre-hire post-offer physical examination.

? Ability to maintain confidentiality in all aspects of the job.

MATERIALS AND EQUIPMENT OPERATING KNOWLEDGE:
? Operating knowledge of and experience with personal computers.
? Operating knowledge of and experience with typical office equipment, such as telephones, copier, fax machine, E-mail, etc.
? Operating knowledge of communication devices, sign language, Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS) and assistive technology preferred.

? Responsible for supervising the behavior and well being of students in the classroom and on recess.

SALARY INFORMATION: 

Salary placement on our Classified Salary schedule is dependent on the Grade for the position being posted and employees’ previous work experience. “Grade” refers to position or job classification and “Step” refers to number of work experience credit or service years. Initial placement will be at the Grade for the position step 1.

Employees regularly scheduled to work twenty (20) hours per week or more are eligible to receive the district contribution towards insurance benefits as defined in the Classified Master Agreement Article 11.3, 11.4, and 11.5 and are eligible for benefits described within this article.
