Before/After School Child Care Assistant – part time 25-30 hrs/week

The Assistant supports the Site Coordinator by helping to create a caring and safe environment for the children and assisting in activities to improve the overall care and quality of education. S/he must be able to communicate, listen and work well with others in a team environment. Assisting the staff in implementing a quality educational program and in developing positive relationships with the children and their parents, the Assistant observes and documents children’s interest and progress, and relays that information back to parents and Site Coordinator. Assistants are responsible for; implementing developmentally appropriate activities based on children’s interests and needs, help ensure smooth, daily transition from home to school, follow all program/school policies and state regulations, filing documentation, and maintain personal professional development plan to ensure continuous quality improvement.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Minimum of 1-2 years of professional child care experience
• High energy
• Ability to work well with others
• Strong oral and written communication skills and basic computer skills
• A strong understanding of child development
• Excellent leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills
• Level Four on the Maine Roads To Quality Professional career Lattice and a high school diploma or GED.
• CPR & First Aid certification
• Must clear full background check

Pay: $11.00/hr, eligible for sick days and course reimbursement

Program Location: Fairview Elementary School

Work Hours:
Monday – Friday 6:30AM to 8:30AM, 2:30PM – 5:45PM
Half-day Wednesdays 11:45AM – 5:45PM
Must work snow days, teacher workshop days, and school vacations.
