Position Summary          

Is this position exempt from overtime pay?

Yes

Oversees all activities of the Logistics Operating Supply Warehouse.  Supervises the receiving, storing, security and distribution of supplies, materials and equipment in assigned warehouses.  Additionally, work includes the direct supervision of warehouse personnel, equipment repair and the Archived Records Office. Develops and maintains effective inventory/record control systems.  Coordinates and develops systems for effective acquisition of all parts needed for equipment repair.  Supervises the servicing and repair of school-based custodian cleaning equipment.  Is responsible for seeing that delivery vehicles and shop repair equipment are properly maintained.  Manages and schedules all equipment and furniture moves.

 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Yes

1. Oversees the day-to-day operation of the operating supply warehouse functions, including direct supervision of all employees assigned to the warehouse.

2. Supervises the receiving, storage and security of all warehouse supplies, materials and equipment.

3. Supervises the maintenance of all supply inventory and archived records to include but not limited to the following: materials of instruction (MOI); health and safety supplies; cleaning supplies; cleaning equipment and their repair parts; and appropriate material safety data sheets (SDS) for products used; supply budget accounts; school moving functions; driver records and other items as needed.

4. Develops and improves processes directly related to the flow of inbound and outbound goods.

5. Interacts with managers and peers to apply sound communication and motivational techniques.

6. Develops, implements, and monitors programs related to the safety and security of all warehouse personnel, equipment and property.

7. Assists in training new personnel on processes and procedures.

8. Ensures employees work in a safe manner and follow safety procedures.

9. Contributes to policy/program development through administration and execution of policies/guidelines that directly affect work activities.

10.    Establishes, plans, and implements the necessary employee engagement programs required to foster a culture of teamwork and continuous performance improvement, which impacts all aspects of functional and business results.

11.    Coordinates shade and drape repairs and replacement.

12.    Oversees the routine servicing, repair and/or preventive maintenance of school-based custodial equipment to include:  floor buffers, vacuum cleaners, shampoo machines, lawn mowers, weed trimmers, and related components of various makes and models.  Determines when repairs are to be made by an outside service provider.

13.    Ensures ample inventory of MOI items, supplies, parts and miscellaneous accessories are available.

14.    Supervises the annual physical inventory on all supplies, materials, and equipment in the Operating Supply Warehouse.

15.    Develops effective storage methods including location and arrangement of storage facilities.

16.    Responds to requests/complaints concerning warehouse/repair services.

17.    Assures that all delivery vehicles, warehousing equipment/shop repair tools are kept in safe operating condition and receive maintenance servicing on a regular basis.

18.    Manages salvage and surplus operations of those warehouse/repair shop items under the control of this position.

19.    Keeps abreast of manufacturers’ recommendations in all matters relating to functional areas of interest.  Participates in obtaining bid/purchase information and makes recommendations to the Manager, Logistics Support Office and the Supervisor of Operations and Logistics in regard to same.

20.    Supervises all in-house moves between schools within AACPS.

21.    Supports the AACPS recycling program.

22.    Participates in the hiring process of full-time employees with the Manager, Logistics Support.

23.    Supports the Manager of Logistics and the Supervisor of Operations in developing annual operating budgets in support of annual goals.

24.    Discusses performance issues with staff promptly. Documents progressive discipline up to and including recommendations for termination of staff.

25.    Arranges requested transports to support daily customer requirements.

26.    Implements inbound and outbound process changes to ensure efficiency and accuracy.

27.    Performs other related duties as assigned.

Education

·  An Associate’s degree OR an equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities deemed sufficient to prepare the applicant to successfully perform the duties of the position.

 

Experience

·  Six (6) years of progressive experience in warehousing/inventory control distribution that includes at least two (2) years of experience/training in a supervisory capacity OR an equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities deemed sufficient to prepare the applicant to successfully perform the duties of the position.

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

·  Thorough knowledge of warehouse operations within a logistics environment.

·  Ability to develop effective relationships and provide strong leadership and direction.

·  Demonstrated ability to effectively work and communicate with diverse populations.

·  Ability to perform tasks on a computerized inventory control system.

·  Knowledge of automated processing equipment systems required.

·  Ability to speak, red and write English sufficiently to give and receive instructions.

·  Ability to understand, follow, and give oral and written instructions.

·  Must possess good oral and written communication skills.

·  Must have the ability to train subordinates.

·  Must have the ability to safely use warehousing equipment such as genie lift, fork lift, pallet jack.

·  Demonstrated proficiency with business technology applications (e.g. Microsoft Office Suite -Word, Excel, Outlook, and/or Power Point

 

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS for employment in Grade D by new hire or transfer: In addition to all the requirements of Grade C listed above:

·  Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Business Management, Logistics, Material Management, Planning or related field or completion of CPSM (Certified Professional in Supply Management) certification.

·  Nine (9) years of progressive experience in warehousing/inventory control distribution that includes at least two (2) years of experience/training in a supervisory capacity OR an equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities deemed sufficient to prepare the applicant to successfully perform the duties of the position.

 

Licenses/Certifications

·  Possession of a valid Maryland Class D operator’s license plus a good driving record (must furnish proof of same).

 

Career Ladder Requirements

 

Eligibility for Consideration for Advancement from Grade C to Grade D requires:

·  Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Business Management, Logistics, Material Management, Planning or related field or completion of CPSM (Certified Professional in Supply Management) certification.

·  Three (3) years of experience in the job at the grade C level.

·  Achievement of identified goals as they relate to the needs of the district and as established by the supervisor.

·  Consistent maintenance of an effective and orderly work environment.

·  Mastery of all duties and responsibilities of the position.

·  Consistent compliance with general office procedures such as standards contained in the AACPS Employee Handbook; demonstration of discretion and excellent customer service; regular and punctual attendance; and building dress code, including wearing AACPS ID badge.

·  Performance evaluation rating of “Excellent” for the previous two (2) evaluations.

·  Recommendation of Supervisor.

 

Physical Requirements

 

·  The ability to perform extensive walking, stooping, pushing, carrying, climbing, bending, and lifting of up to 50 pounds independently and to exert force required to twist/turn equipment/tools required to perform assigned tasks.

·  Involves sustained physical effort and some exposure to dust, dirt, noise, chemical solutions/solvents/odors, and adverse weather conditions.

·  EMPLOYEE SAFTEY:

·  Employee is required to use safety devices and protective equipment to minimize the frequency and severity of work-related accidents. Adheres to safe practices and methods in the operation of equipment and supplies related to his/her job.
