Job Description

Position Overview: Coordinate all aspects of the Burlington Community Schools Project at Hunt Middle School. Work closely with Executive Director to ensure open communication and that programs are in accordance with mission and funding priorities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Burlington Community Schools Project
• Overall management of the Community School’s out-of school programs
• Coordinate with the Out of Time School Coordinator of Burlington School System for budgeting, payroll, contracts and supplies for program
• Be physically present during programming for supervision and direct services
• Devise and implement communication and recruitment plans for the school site in conjunction with the Community Schools staff
• Devise and implement programming that uses community resources to meet objectives of Burlington Community Schools Project
• Acquire long-term sources of funding/sustainability for the Community Schools
• Work with the project office to maintain a successful evaluation process for the school site
• Hiring, supervising, motivating, and evaluating Community School site based staff
• Collaborate with the Executive Director and staff to design and implement a comprehensive development program and appropriate marketing strategies, including the Center’s newsletter and public service announcements
• Design, implement, and/or maintain the structured fundraising program, including grants and donor cultivation and stewardship
• Maintain a close, working relationship with the Center’s Executive Director and Board of Directors
• Represent and promote the Center at public relation events

The Director of Out-of-School Time will have an office housed with the Sara Holbrook Community Center's New North End Youth Center which is located adjacent to Hunt Middle School.     Job Requirements

    • Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.

      Skills & Requirements:
      • Relates and works well with children
      • Grant writing and fundraising experience
      • Proficiency with computer applications, including Microsoft Word, Publisher, and Excel
      • Ability to work effectively with staff and volunteers as well as independently
      • Excellent organizational and multitasking skills
      • Strong and proven leadership skills
      • Experience recruiting, training, supervising and evaluating staff and volunteers
      • Highly effective written and verbal communication skills; ability to meet people with ease
      • Ability to communicate with tact, diplomacy and authority; speak with confidence in front of an audience
      • Flexibility and willingness to adapt
      • Access to reliable transportation; clean driving record

      Because the Sara Holbrook Community Center (SHCC) is a licensed child care facility, it is imperative that all staff report to work in a timely fashion and remain until children have been picked up by authorized personnel. This ensures that the SHCC meets adult-child ratios. By state law, all staff of licensed child care facilities are mandated reporters. Any suspected case of child abuse or neglect must be reviewed immediately with the Executive Director.

    • At least 1 year of relevant experience preferred
    • Bachelor degree preferred
