Job Description

To support the implementation of:
Consistent delivery of the standards-based math curriculum
Differentiation of instructional strategies
Assessment and data analysis

Provide intervention lessons and differentiate instruction to students by breaking down complex ideas and equations and put them into words that elementary aged students can understand
Communicate basic math concepts such as: adding, subtracting, multiplying, dividing, word problems, and geometry with students
Communicate student progress to classroom teachers
Implement lessons in a variety of settings: 1:1, small group and inclusion
Enhance student learning by showing them various approaches to different math problems and formulas
Support teachers if needed by providing materials or assistance with instruction to assist with consistent implementation of the curriculum
Implement the Response to Intervention model in conjunction with building principals and other instructional support specialists
Participate in district wide math assessments including planning, administration, progress monitoring, analysis and interpretation of results to inform instruction
Maintain a current working knowledge base of the national, state and local curriculum initiatives

    Job Requirements

    • Compensation/ Work Year: Salary/benefits and work year to be determined in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement.

      Work Environment:
      Be able to work in a close environment
      Be able to work in a moderately noisy environment
      Be able to handle frequent interruptions

      Physical Requirements:
      Able to sit in low/ child size seats and instruct/ work with children at tables/ desks built for
      students’ size
      Be physically and emotionally capable of carrying-out responsibilities and duties in a busy environment.
      Vision/ Hearing demands include:
      - Read various types of materials/documents, typically 12 point font
      - Classrooms lit by overhead fluorescent lights
      - Natural light controlled by standard shades or blinds
      Read information on computer; type reports, enter information into software program and/or word-process
      Cognitively able to multi-task, read/interpret complex, technical information regarding student needs
      Clearly communicate verbally with teachers, aides, students, and administrators
      Able to lift 25 pounds
      Able to reach across tables to assist students
