Job Description

The Southwest Vermont Supervisory Union (SVSU) is seeking the ideal candidate to assume the role of Mount Anthony Union High School Principal. The Principal shall use leadership, organizational, supervisory and management skills to promote the effective and efficient operations of the school within Board goals and policies, and to direct the delivery of educational services to maximize student learning.

Candidate will provide collaborative leadership in the following areas:
• Ability to lead and facilitate collaborative professional teams to develop and meet school effectiveness goals
• Provide a safe and secure educational environment, including behavior management
• Promote a positive and supportive school climate that fosters academic success for all students
• Ensure implementation of approved curriculum, research-based instructional strategies, and assessments to meet student achievement goals
• Provide professional development opportunities that align with the School/District strategic plans
• In conjunction with administrators, interview candidates and make recommendations to the Superintendent for hiring highly qualified staff
• Develop positive collaborative relationships between families, staff, school, and community

      • Qualifications/Requirements
      o Must hold or be eligible for a Vermont Principal Certification (5440-91 as revised 6/19/13)
      o A minimum of 3 years of relevant administrative experience
      o Competence in the Core Leadership Standards for Vermont Educators required by the Vermont Standards Board for Professional Educators
      o Demonstrated educational leadership ability to meet school improvement goals
      o Demonstrated planning, budgeting and organizational skills
      o Demonstrated successful teaching and educational leadership experience
      o Demonstrated skill in improving instruction and increasing student learning through a multi-tiered system of support (MTSS)
      o Willingness to take sensible risks to implement research-based strategies for effective teaching and learning
      o Ability to view education from a District perspective, and work as a collaborative administrative partner
      o Ability to communicate effectively with staff, administration and the community to build understanding and a positive school image
      o Skills in the areas of effective research-based instruction, program evaluation, and data-based decision making
      o Ability to discriminate between the demands of numerous constituencies for available financial resources and utilize these resources in the most efficient manner
      o Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent may find appropriate and acceptable
    • At least 3 year s of relevant experience preferred
    • Master degree preferred
    • Citizenship, residency OR WORK VISA IN United States required
