Job Description

The League School of Greater Boston is a year-round program dedicated to the education of children with Autism Spectrum Disorders. Our team approach to education creates a collaborative, supportive and open environment within our community. We are currently seeking Part-Time Relief Nurses (LPN) for our program in Walpole, to start immediately. Flexible hours/days available; on-call only, no minimum scheduled hours required; must be reliable when commit to working a shift.

    Job Requirements

    • Position Requirements:
    • Associates Degree in Nursing
    • Valid license to practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in Massachusetts.
    • Minimum of two years of experience as LPN in a child health, community health, or other relevant clinical nursing setting.
    • CPR, CPI and First Aid certifications.
    • Valid driver’s license.

      Supervision Received: Coordinator of Clinical and Family Services/School Nurses
      Supervision Exercised: none

      Duties and Responsibilities may include the following:

      • Prepares medications for administration staff.
      • Assists with the state mandated programs (annual physicals, immunizations, scoliosis, vision, hearing, etc.) and surveillance and screening programs.
      • Monitors the health and safety issues within all locations of the residential and school program.
      • Maintains comprehensive and confidential paper and electronic school health records, including daily logs, accident reports and individual reports.
      • Ensures that parents/guardians are informed of health needs of students.
      • Communicates with outside agencies and physicians, as necessary.
      • Assists in the planning and implementation of documentation procedures (i.e. medication administration, physicians’ orders, skin checks, health and safety reports, food intake charts, weights and heights, etc.)
      • Participates in in-service training, as required by agency policy.
      • Monitors menus, meal preparation and food storage in residential homes.
      • Monitors medications and medical supplies for residential students.
      • Participates in ongoing professional development as needed to maintain MA license as an LPN.
      • Performs other reasonably related duties, as assigned by the Coordinator of Clinical and Family Services or a School Nurse.

      Computer Skills:
      To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Word: Microsoft Excel: Google mail; Microsoft Office suite; Internet Explorer and SNAP Nursing software.
