Job Description

The League School of Greater Boston is a year-round program dedicated to the education of children with Autism Spectrum Disorders. Our team approach to education creates a collaborative, supportive and open environment within our community. We are currently seeking a PROGRAM COORDINATOR for our Foundations and Content Teaching/Life Skills Programs to start immediately. This position leads a team of Head Teachers, Clinicians, Occupational Therapists, Speech/Language Pathologists, and Board Certified Behavior Analysts to achieve the desired results for the program.

The Foundations Program services our early and elementary-aged students between the ages of 3-12, focusing on the development of communication skills, emotional and behavioral regulation, academic skills, daily living skills, and independence. The Content Teaching/Life Skills Program (CTLS) is for students from age 11-16 and adds pre-vocational training to the curriculum. These are done in a small class environment that is sensory friendly with reduced auditory and visual stimuli.

    Job Requirements

    • Position Requirements:
    • Master’s Degree in Special Education with current MA certification in K-12 moderate or severe special needs required. MA certification in school administration preferred.
    • Five years experience with autistic population and demonstrated interpersonal, supervisory and administrative skills.
    • CPR, CPI and First Aid certifications.
    • Valid driver’s license.

      Supervision Received: Reports to the Principal/Assistant Principal
      Supervision Exercised: Supervises and evaluates all Head Teachers in the program

      Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

      1. Develops and implements Individual Education Programs (IEP) within the classroom/school and community settings. Attends IEP meetings as needed.
      2. Participates in the development of behavior intervention strategies and daily living-skill techniques for individual students and follows through on the strategies developed.
      3. Implements student behavior programs: positive reinforcement, breaks, time outs, etc., as designed by the Behavior Department and the team.
      4. Works with the Admissions Coordinator to complete tours and intakes.
      5. Develops curriculum content, as needed, to implement each student’s goals and objectives, as written in his/her Individual Education Program.
      6. Monitors health and safety of students.
      7. Attends and facilitates classroom meetings and program meetings.
      8. Completes daily paperwork for individual students: notes to parents, Incident Reports, Accident Reports, etc.
      9. Review prepared lesson plans and make sure they are appropriate for all students in the classroom.
      10. Conducts consistent classroom observations.
      11. Oversees development of classroom and school schedule that provides structure for the students and limits stimuli within the setting.
      12. Establishes and maintains a good working relationship between the school and the student’s home. This may include: phone contact, notes to parents, parent visits, team meetings.
      13. Participates in all trainings, as required by League School of Greater Boston.
      14. Performs other related duties, as designated by the Assistant Principal/Principal, that are deemed necessary for the operation of the school, such as evening trainings, Open Houses, Parent/Teacher nights, etc.
      15. Manages and monitors the Foundations/CTLS budget.

      Computer Skills:
      To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Word: Microsoft Excel: Microsoft Internet Explorer; Microsoft Office and Google Mail.
