Job Description

The League School of Greater Boston is a year-round program dedicated to the education of children with Autism Spectrum Disorders. Our team approach to education creates a collaborative, supportive and open environment within our community. We are currently seeking a TEMPORARY CULINARY ARTS JOB COACH to start immediately. Length of employment dependent on the need for coverage for this position. Incumbent may be considered for full-time employment once the temporary assignment ends, if an open position exists at that time.

    Job Requirements

    • Position Requirements:
    • Bachelor’s Degree in related field (may be waived with significant experience). Culinary or kitchen experience required. Autism or SPED experience preferred.
    • CPR, CPI and First Aid certifications (will train if necessary).
    • Valid driver’s license.

      Supervision Received: Coordinator of Vocational and Career Services
      Supervision Exercised: none

      Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
      1. Develops and monitors cooking opportunities for students within the school.
      2. Works with specialists and teachers to implement language, communication, organization, and sensory/fine motor accommodations and goals into the kitchen/school store setting.
      3. Develops a cooking curriculum for the vocational program, including goals and objectives of the program, recipes, assessment, etc.
      4. Collects and records data regarding student performance in all skill areas as directed by team, Coordinator of Vocational and Career Services, and/or Vocational Manager.
      5. Develops a therapeutic and effective relationship with students: uses appropriate voice modulation, sets reasonable boundaries with communication and actions, etc.
      6. Implements positive reinforcement, breaks, time outs, etc., as designed by the Behavior Department and the team.
      7. Monitors health and safety of students and follows through with the School Nurse on incidents requiring medical attention.
      8. Functions as a team member. Attends supervision, staff meetings, and annual review meetings, as assigned. Comes prepared with agenda and ready to discuss issues and solutions.
      9. Consults with Head Teachers to develop appropriate vocational goals and objectives for Individual Educational Plans. Completes written reports, as needed: Incident Reports, Accident Reports, Quarterly Progress Reports, Individual Education Programs and Re-evaluation Reports.
      10. Participates in all trainings, as required by League School of Greater Boston.
      11. Performs other related duties, as designated by the Vocational Manager, Principal or Coordinator of Vocational and Career Services, that are deemed necessary for the operation of the school, such as evening trainings, Open House, etc.


      Computer Skills:
      To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Word: Microsoft Excel: internet browsers; Google email.


      The League School offers a substantial part-time/temporary benefit package that includes Earned Sick Leave and 403(b) retirement plan with match. Health insurance may be offered if hours worked over a measurement period meet the requirements of the Affordable Care Act.
