Job Description

The League School of Greater Boston is a year-round program dedicated to the education of children with Autism Spectrum Disorders. Our team approach to education creates a collaborative, supportive and open environment within our community. We are currently seeking a Part-Time RESIDENTIAL COOK for our residential programs in Walpole to start immediately at $15.00/hour. Hours are Monday through Friday, 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

    Job Requirements

    • Position Requirements:
    • Prior culinary or cooking experience; knowledge of nutrition and special diets.
    • Must have HS diploma and preferably a Bachelor’s degree; or be in an undergraduate course of study including special education, education, psychology, human services or social services.
    • CPR, CPI and First Aid certifications (training will be provided if you do not have these currently)
    • Prior experience caring for children in a residential setting preferred; autism experience preferred.
    • Valid driver’s license.

      Supervision Received: Residence Manager/Assistant Manager
      Supervision Exercised: none

      Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
      1) Prepares meals for, and with, residents; participates in mealtime, and cleans up facilities after meals. Incorporates dietary needs/preferences of residents into meal planning.
      2) Takes inventory of food, beverages and supplies and provides Residence Manager with shopping list as needed.
      3) Performs necessary maintenance to assure a clean facility as part of the collective effort of all staff. Specific areas of responsibility include bedrooms (dressers), kitchen, living areas, and office.
      4) Accountable for the recording and signing of significant events for each resident in the Daily Shift Report and the communication of relevant information to the supervisor, other day / night shift counselors, and teachers.
      5) Attends and participates in staff meetings and mandatory monthly meetings.
      6) Attends all staff trainings as required and mandatory monthly meetings
      7) Maintains compliance with all League School of Greater Boston policies with regard to the care, safety, treatment, and health of all League School of Greater Boston students, including fire drill procedures, locations and use of fire-extinguishing equipment and emergency exits, runaway procedures, first aid and seizure procedures, time-out procedures, and medication procedures.
      8) Communicates emergency situations directly with the Residence Manager and / or a supervisor, according to the Emergency Procedures Policy.
      9) Provides social interaction with residents, in accordance with treatment care plan and Individualized Educational Plan.
      10) Establishes individual relationships with residents and is able to work with each resident according to his / her treatment care plan, A.D.L. objectives, and specific behavior management program.



      Computer Skills:
      To perform this job successfully, an individual should have working knowledge of Microsoft Word: Microsoft Excel: Google mail.
