Job Description

Cathedral 7-12 High School seeks a student-centered Science Teacher. The ideal candidate for the position has experience with instruction in STEM disciplines including general sciences, has a knowledge of computer science and programming, the student-centered learning model, and personalized learning, experience in urban education, and speaks a second language.

JOB GOALS

To effectively provide student-centered science and STEM instruction.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Serving as a full time Science Teacher
  • Work with the Director of STEM Studies to create aligned expectations, products, assessments and performance tasks for science and computer science classes
  • Work with other science and STEM-field teachers to assist with content, pedagogy, curricula alignment, assessments and other instructional practices

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS INCLUDE:


  • Experience in or teaching science
  • Knowledge of computer science and a programming/coding language
  • Teaching certification
  • Experienced classroom teacher
  • Experience working with urban youth
  • Speaks another language
REPORTS TO: Principal
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: School year (225 days)
START DATE: August 21, 2017
SALARY: Negotiated based upon experience
