Job Description

What Is Academic Support Service?

The Director and Staff of Support Services work with students who need extra assistance in academic subjects. The Director and Staff also work with the classroom teachers to make sure accommodations are in place for students that may need them due to handicap or disability within the means that St. Patrick School can provide. The Director and Staff of Support Services will also work with the classroom teacher to provide students working above grade level with content to challenge and motivate them.

Academic Support Director’s Role

The Director of Academic Support works individually or in small groups with students who need extra help in academic subjects. He/she, with input from the teachers and administration, selects the students to receive services. He/she administers remedial instruction and individual tests in academic subjects and acts as a liaison when outside testing or tutoring services are used. The Director coordinates referrals for additional supports outside the school community and acts as a liaison with community agencies or professional services.
