Job Description

Cathedral 7-12 High School seeks a student-centered Director of Studies for STEM. The ideal candidate for the position has experience with science, technology, engineering, and mathematics instruction, the student-centered learning model, personalized learning, urban education, is collaborative, and speaks a second language.

JOB GOALS:


To provide direction and leadership for the math and science departments and teachers.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:


— Serve as the full-time Director of Studies and primary instructional supporter in ensuring that teachers are implementing STEM and applied learning
— Create a grade 7-12 course of study for the STEM (math and science) departments with aligned expectations, products, assessments and performance tasks
— Provide direct support and supervision for all math and science teachers to assist with content, pedagogy, curricula alignment, assessments and other instructional practices for Math and Science teachers by overseeing classes, leading content PD and organizing the development of assessments, products and performance tasks for grades 7-12
— Lead instructional reviews of practices with the academic team and serve as the primary supervisor for STEAM-based learning
— Serve as a member of the leadership team for academics
— Any other reasonable duties associated with the role that are assigned by the Head of School


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Experience in or teaching STEM subjects
  • Teaching certification
  • Experienced classroom teacher
  • Supervisory experience
  • Experience working with urban youth
  • Speaks another language
REPORTS TO: Head of School
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: School year (205 days)
START DATE: August 1, 2017
SALARY: Negotiated based upon experience
