Job Description

The Ivy Street School is a small, year round, private residential school for adolescents ages 13-21 who have acquired brain injuries and other developmental, mental health and neurological disabilities.

The Ivy Street School supports the principle that all people with disabilities should have the opportunity to work in their communities. Our goals are to accompany students to on-campus/off-campus community-based job sites and assist the student with job skills and team building with co-workers and employers.

Job Summary

Position Title: Supported Employment Job Coach

Program Goals:

To accompany students to on-campus/off-campus community-based job sites.
To assist the student with job skills and team building with co-workers and employers.
Source of Supervision: Vocational Coordinator

Position Status: 10 hours per week; Core hours will vary and flexibility in schedule is a must to accommodate job site requirements, training needs and documentation. Hours vary between day and evening, 7 days per week with the possibly of a set schedule upon hire.

Principle Duties and Responsibilities:

Arrive on time at the specified job site.
Dress appropriately or as required by the job site.
Assist the student in performing the work responsibilities in such a way that fosters independence.
Continually assess the vocational, social, communication and independent skills required by the specific job setting.
Perform task analysis of each task as needed and provide guidance to student.
Identify job site modifications as needed. Recommendations are to be discussed with the Vocational Coordinator and/or Occupational Therapist first.
Comply with the policies and procedures of the job sites.
Provide a summary of each shift worked with the student to the Vocational Coordinator within 48 hours of each shift.

Experience working with individuals with cognitive/developmental/neurological/psychological disabilities and/or pursing education in an applicable field (e.g. OT, SLP, PT, Vocational Rehabilitation, Social Work, Psychology, Neurology, etc.)
All Job Coaches will be required to participate in a general orientation to The Ivy Street School.
A valid MA driver’s license.
A background check will be performed.
CPR and First Aid required, offered upon hire.
This is an entry-level position; a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree is required.
