THE 2021-2022 SCHOOL YEAR

Project Site Coordinator - Calculus Project
ALBERT F. ARGENZIANO SCHOOL

Program Goal: The Somerville Calculus Project supports Black and Latino students as they explore and develop a deeper appreciation of mathematics. Once students are enrolled, the Calculus Project remains with them throughout high school. Each summer, students come together for 4 weeks of rigorous and engaging math experiences. The Calculus Project is a space in which students can be themselves and be designers of their futures. They learn more about and learn about new careers and interests.

Our students think flexibly, face challenges with courage, and strive for their personal best. We are searching for a Site Coordinator who will do the same.

 

Qualifications:

  • Experience in teaching and/or educational administration
  • Ability to supervise and support a team of up to ten staff members and community partners
  • Organizational skills and ability to follow up and follow through on multiple responsibilities daily
  • Ability to coordinate daily activities including student attendance, management and parent communication
  • Spanish, Portuguese, or Haitian Creole language proficiency is a plus
  • An ability to build relationships with TCP students
  • A deep appreciation for the lived experiences of TCP students; a desire to engage as equals through the Count Forward series, a series of conversations, discussions and presentations meant to disrupt deficit thinking and amplify the contributions of professionals of color to the U.S. social fabric and the STEM field in particular
  • Experience in a school setting working with students on academic content
  • An ability to provide critical feedback to staff on ways to improve classroom instruction and/or management
  • Ability to communicate with students and families who are potentially from culturally and/or linguistically different backgrounds


Additional Qualifications:

  • Must participate in First Aid/CPR training and program onboarding

Terms of Employment:
Seasonal/Yearly Employment
Out of the regular school year days/hours
Location: East Somerville Community School
Stipend: $35 per hour worked 

 


Program Schedule: May 15, 2022 – August 5, 2022
