USD 480 is currently accepting applications for the position of Director of Technology.

Demonstrate a working knowledge of fundamental network design and common network operating systems.
Manage department personnel including building and district technicians.

Evaluate the use of technology in the classroom.
Plan both short and long term professional development programs and materials for school personnel
REPORTS TO: Superintendent
SUPERVISES: Technology personnel
To improve the overall quality of education received by students through the use of technology.
To provide a vision for the implementation of technology and its use to enhance education throughout USD 480
Terms of Contract:
Full time 12 month contract
Evaluated by Superintendent or his/her designee
Assists in the adaptation of school policies to include technology needs.
Submits needed requests for equipment and information to the board of education as required.
Work with the budget director to determine budget.
Work with the Director of Curriculum to determine the technology needs for the district.
Work with the Director of Testing to have a smooth implementation of the district’s testing cycles.
Work with the Superintendent, Deputy Superintendent, and Directors in the long range planning of school improvement, facilities, and construction issues.
Work with school personnel that have data base systems to ensure quality and reliable data.
Establishes system-wide software and hardware standards, requirements, and specifications.
Evaluates hardware and software for classroom or administrative needs.
Remains current on new developments in the areas of software, hardware, networks, telecommunications, training, and maintenance.
Reviews and approves all system technology purchases to assure compatibility.
Prepares proposals and solicits bids for system technology needs.
Coordinates, evaluates, and recommends hardware and software purchases and replacement.
Requisitions new materials, maintenance supplies, and other miscellaneous items need by the technology department.
Requisitions maintenance and repair parts for all computer systems.
Contracts with vendors to provide needed technology solutions.
Coordinate vendor services and maintain positive relations with cooperate sponsors.
Work with the E-rate consultant to collect all needed information to submit the E-rate applications for USD 480.
Work with District Technology Committee to write the state approved district technology plan.
Attend appropriate local, state, and national conferences, workshops, and seminars.
Manage and maintain the district filtering policies.
Set agenda and lead district Technology Committee.
Help develop Professional Development opportunities for teachers, administrators, and other staff members on the implementation and use of technology to enhance student learning.
Provide opportunities for technical and support staff to receive training to keep up with the rapid changes in technology.
Supervise the technology staff in technology maintenance and installation.
Assist technology staff to diagnose and solve computer equipment problems.
Evaluate the job performance of the technology staff.
Direct & supervise the development & maintenance of the district’s webpage(s).
Complete other tasks as assigned by the Superintendent.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/ENVIRONMENT CONDITIONS:
Requirements may include prolonged sitting or standing, physical exertion to manually move, lift, carry, pull or push heavy objects or materials, climbing stairs, stooping, bending and reaching; also includes travel.
