Job Description

Applicants must have a great personality, be hard working, detail oriented, work well as part of a team, be an outstanding communicator and love to solve problems. A capacity to learn and grow is a must. Ready for a challenge? We are looking for a Waterfront Director at a Day Camp Waterfront which looks and acts more like a Resident Camp Waterfront. An optimal candidate for this position would have resident camp waterfront administrative experience (or equivalent), YMCA/JCC Aquatics administrative experience, or high-level Camp administrative experience.

In this role, you will be responsible for implementing and overseeing an instructional, age appropriate program of swim instruction boys and girls, aged from 4 to 15 (Monday to Friday). You will be responsible for supervising a team of 15-20 lifeguard/swim instructors. You will also oversee our inflatable adventure course. Our swimming is done in a lake using a floating dock system to separate swim areas.

- Communication with camper parents is an important part of the job.

- The overseeing of the upkeep and maintenance of the lakefront beach area and docks is also part of the job.

- The camp day runs from 9am to 4pm, with your regular work day being approximately 8am to 5pm but some evening and weekend preparation time will also be required to organize for each upcoming week.

- Dates of Camp are from June 29th to August 28th (9 weeks). Staff training earlier in May and June is also required.

- Salary is based on experience and qualifications.

This is a truly rewarding job where you will be challenged in many different areas and come out of the summer with a huge sense of pride and achievement! You will develop and refine skills that will be helpful to you for the rest of your personal and professional life. You will receive guidance and feedback from the Camp Directors so you will always have a place to turn when you are in need of help. If you are looking to forge a career in the Camp industry, in aquatics or in education you could not ask for a better experience than this!

We welcome interviews via SKYPE or Facetime!

•Whether you work at Camp for one summer or fifty you will gain a lifetime membership to a warm, welcoming community of our staff, our campers and their families.

•An amazing experience where you will work hard, share your talents and enthusiasm and learn new skills that will be useful in future, as well as being a great resume booster.

•You will be more confident and improve (or add to) your ability to be: patient, kind, a leader, a teacher, creative, organized, inclusive, empathetic, spontaneous, independent, motivational and fun. It will be difficult to compare the person you are when you start at Camp to the person you become by the end of the summer.

•Are you seeking entrance to a college/university, a new job or an internship? A reference from one of our Camp Directors can help open doors for you.

•Competitive salary package.

•The satisfaction that you made a lasting difference in the lives of young people.
