Substitute Aides and Administrative Assistants

Montgomery County Public Schools is accepting applications to be a Substitute Special Education Aide, Instructional Aide, Clerical Aide, Lunch Aide, or Administrative Assistant.

Job Requirements
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR SPECIAL EDUCATION AND INSTRUCTIONAL AIDES:

• Completion of an associate’s degree or 48 semester hours of college or a passing score on the Para-Professional Assessment Exam
• Ability to learn to operate and maintain a wide variety of instructional equipment
• Possess effective verbal and written communication skills

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR CLERICAL AIDES AND ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANTS:

• High School diploma or GED
• Possess effective verbal and written communication skills
• Computer literate
• Functional knowledge of commonly used office equipment and work-flow
• Ability to type 50 wpm with five or fewer errors (for Administrative Assistants)

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR LUNCH AIDES:

• High School diploma or GED
• Possess effective verbal and written communication skills

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR ALL POSITIONS:

• Dependability and punctuality required
• Ability to work with administrators, staff, parents, and students
• Ability to maintain an unquestionable degree of confidentiality
• Possess an interest and ability in working with all students

SALARY: $10.04/hour for Aides and $12.09/hour for Administrative Assistants
(2013-2014 MCPS Substitute Salary Scale)

    In the event that a candidate fails to meet the minimum standards for the ParaPro Assessment after three attempts, a subsequent assessment may be allowed with evidence of successful participation in an academic remediation program. If additional assessments are approved, (after the third attempt) the candidate will pay for the cost of the assessment.
