Job Description
Summary: District Data Specialist

Perform district-wide student and staff related information processing including student registration, enrollment and, attendance (SIMS), staff reporting (EPIMS), school, district, and state reporting, (MCAS, Data Warehouse, etc.). Provide Help Desk support for all district databases.

Proficient with all aspects of the ESE required reporting.
Excellent interpersonal and communications skills
Excellent organizational and management skills
Ability to multitask
Proficient with Microsoft Office, SEMSnet, Budget Sense, Test Wiz, SQL, Access and Ipass.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

1) Ensure data integrity by complying with district and state data-dictionary standards and performing routine data verification activities
2) Maintain trail of all work completed.
3) Export/Import data from electronic systems such as student data system, staff data system, MCAS reporting tool, Special Education data system, state systems, school to parent communication system, assessment systems, financial accounting systems, etc. Verify the accuracy of each export/import.
4) Electronic submission of state related data, including student roster, student attendance, SIMS, EPIMS, SSDR, AYP, MCAS and ESE user role administration.
5) Research and resolve errors pertaining to student and staff data in various applications.
6) Participate in group and one-on-one training, develop help guides and documentation.
7) Participate in setup, completion and implementation of District policy and procedures related to data entry to optimize data integrity.
8) Other related duties as assigned.

Understanding of:

1) Principles of electronic data entry, data record handling and management.
2) Modern technology, including computer proficiency, daily use of common software such as MS Office, Windows, Internet, etc.
3) Sophisticated data processing systems including student data systems, staff data systems, special education data system, school to parent communication system, MCAS reporting systems, etc.
4) Oral communication skills
5) Effective interpersonal skills

Capability To:

1) Efficiently maintain King Philip software applications such as; student information system (iPass), student health information system (iHealth), special education student data system (SEMS), staff information system (IStaff), school to parent communication system (Connect-ED), MCAS reporting system (Data Warehouse), Faculty testing analysis system (Scantron Remark Software), etc.
2) Proficient in the use of Microsoft Excel spreadsheets and Microsoft Access to include exports, imports, text data, filtering, sorting, matching and reporting.
3) Create and maintain databases that are accurate and timely.
4) Problem-solve and research complex problems, where multiple sources are referenced for resolution.


• At least 5 years of relevant experience preferred
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree preferred
• Citizenship, residency or work VISA in United States required
