Job Description
Otter Valley Union High School is accepting applications for an Intervention Specialist to begin as soon as possible.

The Intervention Specialist is responsible for providing a positive and successful experience for student(s) identified through the special education process as needing help with social, personal and/or behavioral issues. This is to be accomplished in accordance with all relevant legislation, policies and procedures.

The following qualifications are required:
• Associates Degree
• Highly Qualified under Title I requirements and pass the Crisis Prevention test annually.

Other Preferred Qualifications
• Previous experience with students with disabilities.
• Physical ability to restrain students as necessary as written in the Individualized Education Plan/Behavior Management Plan.
• Ability to work collaboratively with classroom teachers, special educators and other members of the school community
• Expected to work with a variety of students in a variety of settings throughout the school day. This support will cover a broad continuum from 1:1 prevention services to prevent behavioral issues, to carrying out behavioral plans as written.
• Ability to assure the health and safety of the assigned student(s) and other students with which the assigned student(s) comes in contact.
• Ability to assist in developing letters of responsibilities, disciplinary plans and appropriate behavioral contracts with assigned students.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality in accordance with federal, state and RNESU requirements
• Ability to keep and maintain accurate records and meet deadlines.
• Ability to act on and uphold the policies and procedures established by the board and administration



Otter Valley Union High School is located in central Vermont in the town of Brandon. The school is the main high school for Rutland Northeast Supervisory Union which includes a population of approximately 9,000. The two largest villages are Brandon and Pittsford, both located on US Route 7, north of Rutland. The area is rural, with major industries being education, tourism, light manufacturing, agriculture, and a growing arts community.

OVUHS is a public high school serving students in grades 7-12 from communities of Brandon, Pittsford, Leicester, Whiting, Sudbury, Goshen, Florence, and Forestdale. The current student population is 516 and is anticipated to increase to 525 in the coming year. http://ovuhs.rnesu.org/
