Job Description
English as a Second Language Teacher

Responsibilities will include:
• Planning, developing and implementing instruction in English as a Second Language in a self-contained setting.
• Collaborating with mainstream teachers in push-in classrooms.
• Utilizing a variety of instructional methodologies and curriculum resources geared specifically towards ELL students.
• Working as a team member, sharing common planning, professional development, curriculum design, and teaching responsibilities.
• Administering student assessments and planning instruction for students based on the data from the assessments.
• Specifically, understanding how to use WIDA (Massachusetts English Language proficiency standards) in order to differentiate instruction for students at different language proficiency levels
• Being an active member of the school's Language Assessment team
• Facilitating and participating in Transition meetings for students who meet the minimum expectations for leaving ELL services.
• Attending school based meetings, as needed and pertinent English Language Learner professional development sessions.
• Completing necessary paperwork regarding the identification, progress monitoring and transitioning of English Language Learners in each school.
• Providing support and sharing information with school staff on ESL/ELL matters.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's degree
MA Teacher Certification in English as a Second Language

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Bilingual in English and one of the dominant languages of the students (Haitian Creole, Spanish, French or Vietnamese)
Dual Certification in ESL and (English, Social Studies, Science or Math)
Demonstrated experience working in a diverse multi-cultural academic setting)

Terms:
182 school days in accordance with the Randolph Education Association (REA) collective bargaining agreement

Salary placement will be consistent with REA salary schedule. Individuals may receive credit for up to three (3) years prior teaching

Randolph (MA), a town of over 32,000, resting about 10 miles south of downtown Boston, is one of the most diverse communities in the state of Massachusetts and is proud to have the 2015 Massachusetts Milken Educator Award winner.
