Job Description
1. Participate with building principals in the mentor/mentee selection and matching process.
2. Work with principals and mentors to coordinate substitutes for release time as needed.
3. Work with all professional development trainers to plan and implement new teacher training and mentoring training.
4. Work with all mentors to provide support for educators who are new to the Longmeadow Public Schools.
5. Meet periodically with the Assistant Superintendent for Learning to integrate Mentor/New Teacher induction program activities with district professional development, curriculum planning and long-range planning
6. Meet regularly with the mentor teachers.
7. Develop system of monitoring mentor. Provide mentor logs to Assistant Superintendent.
8. Prepare and disseminate all communication regarding Mentor/New Teacher Induction Program activities.
9. Conduct an annual assessment of the Mentor/New Teacher Induction Program
10. Participate in the New Employee Orientation in August.
11. Aid in completion of District Annual Induction and Mentoring Report for Department of Education.

Job Requirements
1. Current employment as a teacher in the Longmeadow Public Schools with Professional Teaching status
2. Completion of district-approved mentor training; experience as a mentor preferred
3. Exhibits understanding of diverse learning styles and educational practices, openness to new ideas and approaches, and in-depth knowledge of his/her area of competency and current critical issues in education.
4. Good leadership and communication skills.
  • At least 5 years of relevant experience preferred
  • Master degree preferred
  • Citizenship, residency or work VISA in United States required
