The Montpelier Board of School Commissioners seeks a strong educational leader who will advance our mission. The district values student-centered education, excellence, economic sustainability, passion, courage, and a safe, healthy and caring environment.
The school system serves 1,000 students in three schools, grades prek-12. Montpelier is located in scenic north-central Vermont and has been recognized by AARP as one of the five most desirable cities to live in the United States. The community has a strong history of civic involvement.
The district adheres to the policy governance model. Under this model, the superintendent of schools serves as the Chief Executive Officer of the school district. The superintendent is responsible for designing and implementing an educational program that fulfills the mission, values, and desired ends of the school district within the executive limitations established by the board.
