TEACHER ASSISTANTS
(Paraprofessional)
Hillside Academy East Campus, a Special Education Services Program & member of The Menta Group (www.thementagroup.org) offers elementary, middle and high school programming to special education students residing in the City of Chicago. Elementary and middle school curricula emphasize real-world, community-based learning. Classrooms are designed to be active learning environments where young people have the opportunity to experience educational and behavioral success on a regular basis. The high school curriculum is intended to aid students in acquiring the knowledge and skills necessary to become eligible for post-secondary education and/or employment. Emphasis is placed on developing a key set of skills that are common across both educational and employment settings.
Duties of the Teacher Assistant consist of:
•Lead or co-teach a class of students with behavior/learning disorders.
•Prepare and adapt materials for use in the classroom. Maintain classroom and materials in
good order.
•Communicate behavioral concerns of students to appropriate staff.
•Implement and maintain behavioral program policies and data.
•Attend all staff meetings and in-service training as requested.

Qualifications:
•College Associates Degree/two years college classes
•High School Diploma or GED
•State Certified Paraprofessional preferred
•At least 23 years of age
•Clean driving record
