Substitute teachers direct the learning of an entire class or group of students. Some teachers also direct paraprofessionals who work with one or more of their students. Lesson plans are provided.
Qualifications Substitute teachers must have a four year college degree. Teaching certification is not required, though it is desirable.
Salary $70 is the basic pay rate per day.
$75 per day is paid for those who: 1.Have requested the increase from a principal under whom they have worked and 2. Possess some form of teaching certification and 3. Have been approved by this same principal for the increase OR have returned from teaching in the local school system at the same level.
$85 per day is paid for those who:1. Have already been earning $75 per day AND 2. Have substituted for 50 days within one school year AND 3.Have requested the increase from the Substitute Coordinator
Part-time rates are pro-rated hourly rates of either $10/hour (based on $70 per day)or $12.14/hour (based on $75 per day).
